Rooming options:
Each of the hotels offers a range of room types – so, which will best serve your needs?

All of the hotels used by WRP provide, as standard, rooms with en-suite facilities. Room configurations may vary between having a bath with shower or a bath and separate shower. In some the toilet is separate from the bathroom itself. All rooms have tea/coffee making facilities, mini-bar, satellite colour TV, direct dial telephone and 24 hr room service. Rooms can be for single or dual occupancy using either a double or twin bed arrangement.

Definitions

Double rooms
Dual occupancy with a double bed is the standard rooming configuration.

Twin rooms
Many such rooms will consist of two single beds. Should demand be high then the hotels may “make” a twin room by using a double bed and a sofa bed. During the day the second bed disappears converting into a comfortable, and more useful, sofa.

Triple adult occupancy
In previous years several of the hotels could offer rooms with three single beds allowing for triple occupancy for three adults. Please note that none of the hotels now offer this bed configuration.
However, we do have situations where 3 adults are content with a “triple” using a double bed plus single sofa bed. The room is costed for two adults plus a £60 per night supplement for the third person so this can be much cheaper than having a double plus a single room with its supplement. Ask for details.

Family rooms
Due to Fire Regulations in London the maximum permitted occupancy in any hotel room is 4 persons. For a family with one or two children then this would consist of a double bed plus either a single or a twin pull-out and pre-made, sofa bed with separate mattresses and bedding.
All of our hotels have a few rooms with inter-connecting doors. We have to request these from the hotel at the time of booking. However, this does mean paying for 2 rooms at the adult rate.
Please note that Novotel Paddington does not have any “Family 4” rooms in our contract, so the maximum occupancy is 3 persons – two adults and one child. If you have problems regarding what type of room is best, do call the WRP office for guidance.

Sole occupancy - single rooms
Virtually all modern hotels have rooms of a similar size. The days of small box-rooms at the end of a corridor where you could just manage to get into it one single bed, are long gone.
As all such rooms have a double or twin beds the rate for that room is based upon dual adult occupancy thus each adult effectively pays  supplement of 50% of the room rate.
Hence if one person wants the whole room to themselves (called “sole occupancy”) then clearly they have to pay for both halves – otherwise every single occupancy would lose the hotel half its potential revenue. Hence the reason “Single/ Sole occupancy” room supplement.

Rooms for disabled persons
Please note that all our hotels have rooms especially designed and fitted for the disabled. Some have a walk-in shower facility. If you have a need for such a room please do telephone the office so that we can ensure that both we and the hotel are clear upon your needs and, if still available, the appropriate room is reserved for you in advance.

Room shares
If you are on your own and don’t wish to incur a single supplement then you might consider sharing a twin-bedded room with another runner of the same gender.
Possibly you may already know someone from your club or area. If not, we do offer to try to find a room-share for you trying to create a reasonable “match” in terms of with age and running time. Each of the pair will have their own key to their twin-bedded room (either 2+ Single or 1 Double + 1 Sofa Bed) and can come and go as they wish.  Please note we cannot guarantee that your room share does not snore, have smelly feet or talk too much! However, by and large, the arrangement works well and saves paying a Sole Occupancy supplement.

Finding a partner for one night is relatively easy and last year, out of 9 requests, we only failed with one man who then agreed to pay the single supplement which is always the fall-back position if a match does not become available.
Finding room shares for 2 or more nights is much harder as the potential market is so much smaller. In some cases we can offer a room share for one of the two nights thus halving the potential single room supplement.

Special requests
Occasionally guests ask if they might have the same room as they had previously and give a specific room number; in other cases they might ask if they and family or friends might have adjacent rooms. In all such cases, when we submit our final rooming list 4 weeks before the race, these requests are noted. We find that the hotels always try as hard as they can to meet as many of these requests as they can. We cannot guarantee that all requests will be possible.
